Koreniuk headlines Team of the Week
After posting a big performance against his former club, Nevezis center Vladyslav Koreniuk achieved a new personal milestone as he snatched up the Betsafe LKL Player of the Week honors for the first time.
The 23-year-old big man from Ukraine scored 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and added 9 rebounds to help his current side to a 90-57 blowout win on the road against Siauliai, the team he represented last season.
"I am happy with the award, but the most important thing is to help my team win. That's the best reward for your work – a victory for the team," said Koreniuk, who tallied an efficiency ranking of 32 in the game.
His teammate Valerii Likhodei earned a place on the Team of the Week for the second week running with a 15-point, 7-assist and 3-steal display in the same victory.
Vyacheslav Bobrov of Pieno Zvaigzdes secured his place on the list with a 22-point and 11-rebound double-double in a loss to Lietuvos Rytas, with his opponent Chris Kramer making the cut with 5 points, 12 assists and 4 steals.
Juventus point guard Anthony Ireland rounds out the Top 5 after leading the Utena side to their second win in a row with 24 points and 3 assists to put the poor start of the season behind them.
