Lietuvos Rytas ease past Lietkabelis; Dzukija get important win

A 40-point third quarter got the job done for Lietuvos Rytas in Panevezys, with the club from the capital breezing past Lietkabelis 104-83 to move up to the top of the Betsafe LKL standings.

However, despite improving to a 28-6 record, the move to first place will likely prove just temporary with the 27-4 Zalgiris having three games in hand.

Rokas Giedraitis led the visitors from Vilnius with a game-high 19 points, Mindaugas Girdziunas collected 16 points and 8 assists, while Mindaugas Lukauskis and Travis Peterson chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

For Lietkabelis, Lukas Aukstikalnis scored 12 points, with Darjus Lavrinovic and Zygimantas Skucas chipping in with 11 each.

In the other game of the day, the ninth-placed Dzukija increased their advantage over the bottom-of-the-standings Vytautas to two games after inscribing a 103-85 win over Pieno Zvaigzdes.

Parrish Petty had an excellent game with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, Gediminas Navickas returned to form with an 18-point performance, while Paulius Danisevicius had 16.

Meanwhile, Osvaldas Olisevicius and Jeahenns-Ley Manigat scored 18 points apiece for Pieno Zvaigzdes. Nikita Balashov added 15 points and 4 rebounds.
