Girdziunas and Mavrokefalidis step up, as Lietuvos Rytas register comeback win
Mindaugas Girdziunas led the the second-half Lietuvos Rytas charge against his former club Neptunas, helping the Vilnius side come out on top 74-67 in Game 3 of the Betsafe LKL Semi-Final series on Saturday and giving them a 2-1 edge.
After leaving the court scoreless after the first two quarters, Girdziunas netted 14 points and dished out four assists after intermission, as the Rimas Kurtinaitis-coached side turned around an 11-point deficit at the Siemens Arena.
Loukas Mavrokefalidis was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points and 4 rebounds, while Travis Peterson and Mindaugas Lukauskis chipped in with 10 points apiece.
For Neptunas, Renaldas Seibutis finished with a team-high 15 points, all of which came in the first half. Jerry Johnson finished had 14 points in limited playing time, with the big man duo of Simas Galdikas and Edgaras Zelionis adding 13 points each.
Lietuvos Rytas will have the chance to close out the series on Monday, when the teams meet again in Klaipeda.
