Rytas avert upset against Dzukija; Skycop top Juventus
Dzukija came close to an upset against last year's Betsafe LKL runners-up Rytas in Alytus, but the visitors escaped with a 79-73 victory after turning it around in the fourth quarter.
The Vilnius side outscored the hosts 24-9 in the final period of the contest to move their record to a second-best 4-1 mark in the standings. Meanwhile, Dzukija fell to 2-3 despite playing solid basketball lately.
Eimantas Bendzius had a game-high 20 points for Rytas, D.J. Seeley collected 13 points, while Mindaugas Girdziunas contributed with 11 points and 5 assists.
For Dzukija, Kendrick Brown collected 15 points and 7 assists; Matas Jogela and Dominykas Domarkas chipped in with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
In the other game of the day, Skycop outlasted Juventus 85-80 to get back to winning ways after a rough patch. They improved to 3-3, while Juventus fell to 2-4.
Mike Bruesewitz was the top scorer for the Virginijus Seskus-coached Prienai side with 22 points and 9 rebounds, as Martynas Gecevicius added a helping hand of 19 points after going 5-of-11 from three-point range.
Juventus center Vaidas Cepukaitis registered a phenomenal 26-point and 13-rebound performance for a total efficiency score of 36, while point guard Alex Hamilton collected 16 points.
