Juventus rookie Geben captures Betsafe LKL MVP honors
Martinas Geben burst onto the Betsafe LKL scene with a rookie season to remember, capturing the Most Valuable Player honors in Lithuania already in his rookie campaign.
Having played in all 36 contests for Juventus, the 24-year-old center on loan in Utena from Zalgiris led the league with an average efficiency of 16.4 per game.
He averaged 11.6 points per game for the 12th best mark in the Betsafe LKL and was also the league leader in rebounds (7.2) and blocks (1.1) per game.
"At the start of the year, I had my mind set on trying to become the best rookie in the league, but had no thoughts on the MVP award," Geben told LKL.LT.
"My main goal was to transition to professional basketball. So it all worked out even better than I had anticipated. Everyone in Utena welcomed me warmly and trusted me on the court. It helped me to settle in. I want to thank them for their help."
