Jonava upsets Rytas, Utena makes a comeback and takes down Panevėžys
Both finalists of the last season suffered surprising losses during the recent weekend of Betsafe-LKL action. In the meantime, Žalgiris Kaunas and Cbet Jonava remained undefeated while Gargždai and Labas GAS remained winless.
After starting the season 3-0, Rytas Vilnius have now suffered their second loss in a row. Defending champions were defeated by Cbet Jonava, who are still unbeaten with a tally of 5 victories. Martins Laksa scored 27 points to lead Virginijus Šeškus team to a 78:71 win. Marcus Foster had 20 points for Rytas.
Uniclub Casino – Juventus Utena came back from down 11 points in the fourth quarter to beat 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevėžys 87:84. Justin Alston was the man of the hour with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamel Morris scored 26 points but it was not enough as 7bet-Lietkabelis was short-handed in the final minutes.
Žalgiris Kaunas has five wins in as many Betsafe-LKL games after topping Gargždai 86:74. Laurynas Birutis chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds, Rolands Šmits and Tomas Dimša added 10 points each. Joshua Newkirk scored 24 points in the losing effort, including 4 three-pointers.
Wolves found some difficulties playing at home in Alytus but managed to beat Pieno žvaigždės Pasvalys 76:69. Neptūnas Klaipėda grabbed their first victory after four losses, beating Labas GAS Prienai 99:92 on the road. Šiauliai went 3-2 in the standings by getting the 92:81 away win against Nevėžis-Optibet Kėdainiai.
